A WebQuest for 2nd Grade (General Subject)

Imagine you are on a farm! You’re the farmer! You will need to care for the animals you have on your farm! So get your rakes, tractors, and brains and get ready to LEARN…LEARN…LEARN!  

The grade level for this lesson is second grade. The course that it covers is art, science, and a bit of history and geography. This lesson can be extended for third and fourth graders if you choose to use them in an appropriate lesson plan. 

The students will need to know:

o     Their basic farm animals.

o     Their basic vocabulary.

o     Their basic directions (using the icons bottoms at the top of the page; “introduction, process, task, and ect…”.)

ü    Pick a Farm animal that you and your partner would like to LEARN more about.

ü   Click on the animal pictures that you and your partner have chosen.

ü   When you click on the animal pictures then you and your partner will have to read about that animal.

ü   Then get some facts from what you have read and write those facts down.

ü   After getting all of those facts, then you and your partner will have to take the facts and draw a picture about what the facts say.

ü   After drawing your picture then you and your partner will have to label the drawing.

ü   Then prepare to show your picture to the class.

The resources needed for this lesson would be:

o     A computer

o     Pencil

o     Paper

o     Color crayons or color pencils or markers

This lesson could be handled by one teacher but additional help by  an aide or parent to help out with questions that the students might have.

Cooperation With Partner.

*Only one partner did all the work and both partners did not put the effort into the project together.

*Both partners shared some of the work but did not put the information together at the end of the project.

*Both partners shared the work evenly and did a great job putting the information together at the end.

 

Sharing Time To Class.

*Chose not to speak about their project to the class

*Spoke to the class about their picture for less than 1 minute.

*Spoke to the class about their picture for the time that was given or longer.

 


Now that we have researched all different farm animals, do you know what it is like being a farmer? After drawing your picture with your partner we will put all of the other classmates’ pictures together and see what a real farm would look like!
