Courses I Teach NURS 1020: The Registered Nurse Role in Health and Wellness Introduces the role of the Associate Degree Registered Nurse in healthcare. Concepts include holistic therapies, cultural diversity, nursing process, assessment, pharmacology, communication, teaching-learning theory, documentation, legal-ethical issues and professional boundaries. Emphasizes holism, critical thinking and primary, secondary and tertiary prevention with patients and families throughout the lifespan. Fundamental concepts of therapeutic nursing interventions and the relationship to health and wellness are integrated through out the course. Prepares the Associate Degree Registered Nursing Student to care for patients in chronic and acute care settings. NURS 1025: Clinical Application for NURS 1020 Applies theoretical concepts to nursing practice in individual, small group and large group settings. Therapeutic nursing interventions include medication administration, physical assessment, sterile technique, catheterization, wound care, enteral tubes, and intravenous fluid administration. Practicum experiences include contact with patients across the lifespan in a variety of settings such as nursing lab, long term care, acute care, ambulatory clinics and the community.
