Often students enter community colleges with a need to brush up on some basic skills. Many students are returning to school after being away from an academic setting for several years. Others may simply have had had an unpleasent learning experience in a key area such as English or Math. Whatever the situation, the Learning Center can help. Write Right

The ability to write well is essential in the business world. While elegance is not manditory, competence is. If you struggle with the basics of writing--grammar, spelling, and punctuation-- now is the time to develop these skills. Contact the Writing Center to begin the journey to improved writing.

Stand and Deliver

Many people fear public speaking more than death. For some this great fear is a barrier that never leaves and significantly limits their professional and personal lives. Whether you have a great fear of public speaking or are an accomplished speaker, one this is certain. You can improve, and Toastmasters is a great place to start.

Toastmasters is a world-wide, non-profit organization that provides effective public speaking training for an exceptionally low cost. From novice pubic speaker to expert, all are welcome at Toastmasters. Many famous people have been Toastmaster members including Tim Allen, Billie Jean King, Harvey Mackay, and Sam Nunn. There are approximately 50 clubs within the Eagan, Apple Valley, Inver Grove Heights, and St. Paul area. Select "Find A Club" from the Toastmasters home page to find a club that meets at a time and place that is most convenient for you. Meeting are designed to last one hour. During your first meeting you will typically not be required to speak to the group.
