TEXT:  Required packet must be purchased at the Inver Hills Bookstore.

OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of the course the student will:

1.      Describe and demonstrate basic proficiency in bowling technique.

2.      Discuss and demonstrate correct aiming strategies for strikes and spares.

3.      Explain bowling league competition and the use of averages and handicaps in competition.

4.      Correctly score a bowling game, series, average, and handicap.

5.      Identify and define bowling terms.

EQUIPMENT:  Students may use their own bowling balls and shoes or ones provided by Drkula’s.  Dress in comfortably loose clothing.  *Please return balls to racks and shoes to left side of front desk.  Put all trash in the proper receptacles and return any dishes to the bar area.

COURSE PROCEDURE:  Check in with the instructor upon arrival for lane assignment.  Get shoes and ball.  Usually 3 games will be bowled.  If you choose to bowl more than 3 games, you must pay an extra fee.

METHOD OF EVALUATION:

39 points for attendance (13 days, 3 pts. each)                        *More than 4 absences FAIL

20 points for Scoring Quiz                                           Arriving late or leaving early, minus 1 point

15 points for League Quiz                                           Up to two absences may be made up for 2 points each -

Incomplete Grade and Withdrawal Information: Students must initiate requests for either an incomplete grade or withdrawal from a course by filing the appropriate form with Enrollment Services. Students who stop attending classes without completing the withdrawal process may receive a grade of “F,” and are responsible for all tuition/fees associated with the course registration.  Withdrawal forms must be submitted by April 18.  Failure to complete a course may jeopardize your financial aid.  Please see the current Class Schedule or Catalog for details.

Cheating:  Any student caught cheating on a quiz or exam will receive a zero for that item.  Keep your eyes on your own work and do not attempt to talk with your tablemate during the test.  You may use a calculator for quizzes and test.
