NURS 2030 Nursing Interventions II:  Health, Healing & Holism, and the Role of the Registered Nurse

4 credits; 4 classroom hours/week; 0 clinical hours/week.

Learning opportunities focus on primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention, nursing interventions, health and holism.  The student will identify and facilitate patterns of health and wellness for clients within their environment.  Theory content and clinical practicum are taken concurrently.  Prereq.: NURS 1030, 1035 and concurrent enrollment in NURS 2035.  F 

NURS 2035  Clinical Application for NURS 2030

4 credits; 0 classroom hours/week; 8 clinical hours/week.

Application of theoretical concepts to nursing practice.  Practicum experience fosters critical thinking skills, caring behaviors and safe practice.  Application settings may include acute care facilities, ambulatory care clinics, long term care, community clinics/agencies and home-health care.  Prereq.:  NURS 1030, 1035 and concurrent enrollment in NURS 2030.  F 

NURS 2050  Synthesis and Transition to the Registered Nurse Role

2 credits; 2 classroom hours/week; 0 clinical hours/week.

The course includes a synthesis of concepts taught previously such as health, healing, holism.  Special focus is given to leadership, Supervision and delegation, and management of client caseloads, self care strategies, preparation to enter the work force and exploration of other nursing opportunities.  Continued emphasis on group dynamics and processes, teaching/learning projects and experiences with different types of healthcare delivery systems presented via case study methodologies.  Prereq.: NURS 2030, 2035 and concurrent enrollment in NURS 2055. S 

NURS 2055  Clinical Application for NURS 2050

4 credits; 0 classroom hours/week; 12 clinical hours/week.

Application and synthesis of concepts represented in NURS 2050.  Practicum experiences will focus on leadership and management concepts in working with complex patient care and situations.  Other application will involve exploration of career opportunities in a variety of healthcare settings, preparing and presenting teaching projects to clients and other healthcare personnel, and working collaboratively with other students to create a continuity of care plan for a selected client.  Finally, this practicum will encourage students to prepare themselves for the personal and professional transition to the role of the registered nurse.  Prereq.: NURS 2030, 2035;  concurrent enrollment in NURS 2050.  S
