New essay assignment:
If you were absent Monday, Sept. 24 and Wednesday, Sept. 26:
Class is cancelled all next week. Instead, I'll be having mandatory 15-minute conferences with each of you to discuss your first assignment and your work in the class so far. You must contact me and make an appointment for a conference next week.
Do #1-5 in Exercise 3.9 on pp. 111-113, #1-5 on a separate sheet of paper and bring it to your conference

If you were absent on Monday, September 24:
You missed the peer review for assignment #1. That means your essay is considered a late paper unless your absence is excused. So far no one has contacted me about her or his absence Monday so all absences are currently considered unexcused.
Please try to have someone give you some feedback about your paper before Wednesday's class.
Assignment #1 is due to hand in on Wednesday, September 26. It must be in a folder with peer review drafts, peer review feedback, the assignment sheet, topic brainstorming, and any other notes or drafts if you have them.
If you miss class both September 24 AND September 26, you must contact me IMMEDIATELY! You will need to know about important procedures for class next week.
