In 1979 I wrote The Phylogeny and Biogeography of the Cimicoidea (Insecta: Hemiptera) as part of my Master's thesis at the University of Connecticut. This began as a study of the Plokiophilidae, and expanded from there.

A fairly complete bibliography of the Cimicoidea to 1979 is also available. Bibliography

Caveat:  The thesis contains descriptions of three new species of Plokiophilidae and some new subspecies. These descriptions were never formally published, and the names do not have priority.  I believe that the species I called Embiophila rossi has since been described by Carpintero (2005) as Embiophila maesi.
