Getting help:  Refer to the syllabus for a list of all of the free help resources and services for this course.  I encourage you to let me help you if at all possible or work with other students in the course. You will get acquainted with others when you do group assignments.  If you have general or math questions, please post them on the Discussion Board in MyStatLab.  Any student in our class or I will answer them there.  If you have more personal questions, send me an email (nlange@inverhills.edu)  or leave a voice message on my campus phone (651-450-3395).  For customer technical support on installation of MyStatLab use the Product Support link in one of the announcements on the homepage of MyStatLab software.  For D2L issues, use the student technical help link on the college website --> Inver Login --> Student technical help.  I encourage you to stop by my office (L239) during my posted office hours for assistance and take advantage of online office hours.  The following two tutoring services are encouraged.

Help on campus:  The Math Center is a free campus walk-in tutoring center to help math students with their homework.  It is located on the north end of the 2nd floor of the Library building.  Hours are 9-6 Monday-Thursday and 9-1 Friday.  When you arrive, let one of the lab assistants know that you are there to get help.  Find a table and begin working until someone can assist you.

Help by phone, fax or e-mail: The software has a link to "tutor center" where a toll-free phone number is listed (with hours of service) that you can call to get a math professional (real person) for help on your Math homework.  The link is in MyStatLab software in one of the announcements.

Prerequisites for Math 1103: All students must have a placement in Math 1103 from the IHCC math assessment or have a C or higher in Math 96, 98, or 99 within 2 years (or equivalent coursework elsewhere).  For assessment information go to http://www.inverhills.edu/Admissions/Steps/Assessments.aspx and for practice math assessments go to http://www.inverhills.edu/departments/mathematics/ and select "assessments and refresher" on the side menu. It is a good idea to spend some time reviewing your intermediate algebra content so that you can test high enough to place into Math 1103. If you need further assistance or to see if a course that you took elsewhere will satisfy the math prerequisite, please send me an email nlange@inverhills.edu.
