Computer Learner Characteristics

A student choosing a computer-instructed course should possess the following characteristics:

learn well through written instruction,

discipline themselves 

manage their time effectively

work well independently,

are proactive in finding out the answers to their questions,

motivate themselves

use technology with a reasonable degree of comfort,

understand the time commitments for this course,

will not fall behind if given the freedom to manage their own time, and

can work at their own pace and still meet deadlines.

 

Computer-Assisted Method of Instruction Offers . . .

traditional content that is presented using animation, graphics, video, and audio,

learning that is interactive on a computer with instructor and technical support,

access to instructor via email and phone,

reduced time in class and commuting, and

anytime, anywhere instruction using the Internet and course software.

Students meet as a group for approximately two hours on an evening per week.  Class time is reserved for discussing weekly and cumulative summaries, taking all tests and answering questions.  There will also be some supplemental instruction and overviews of content. 

Students must have some experience using a Microsoft Windows application (such as WORD or EXCEL).  Students have technical support 7days per week, 24 hours per day using a toll-free phone number or email.
