Minitab lesson 1 notes begin on page 3. Minitab homework is in the middle section of the course pack beginning on page 62 and the homework key is at the end of the course pack beginning at page 75. These are all also posted in D2L > Content > Minitab where they can be opened and printed. For online students, the links to the Minitab lesson videos are posted in D2L > Content > Minitab. Save the URLs pdf document to your computer. Then access the desired video by clicking on the link on the URLs document. Don't just watch the video, but open Minitab and do the lesson along with the video. Use the control buttons below the screen to pause and resume the video as needed. Minitab Homework: Minitab homework should be done each week after completing the assigned lesson video. These begin on page 62 of the course pack and can be printed from D2L > Content > Minitab. The answer key for the Minitab homework begins on page 75 in the course pack and is also posted in the Minitab folder in D2L. Always check your Minitab homework answers to be sure that you are getting the correct results. Graded Minitab Assignments: Graded Minitab assignments cover content for 2-3 weeks. Details for these will be included in weekly updates on D2L in "Week-by-week. These assignments are posted in D2L > Content > Minitab. instructions are given and points clearly shown. Due dates will be communicated on the assignment and on your course schedule (calendar). Any changes will be announced by the @go.inverhills.edu e-mail system. The practice Minitab homework exercises are not turned in and do not earn points, but they must be done in order to learn how to use the program. How to retrieve Appendix B data files from the text CD or MyStatLab: It would be wise to copy the appendix B files from the CD or MyStatLab > Tools for Success folder to a folder on your computer so that you can easily locate them for Minitab demonstration lab lessons, homework and graded assignments. See the next two items for specific instructions to retrieve data files from the text CD or MyStatLab software. Retrieving Triola's Appendix B data sets (worksheets) from the Triola text CD: See page 216 in the Minitab Manual (workbook) that was packaged free with your textbook or posted in MyStatLab > Tools for Success > Technology Manuals > Minitab Manual and Student Workbook. Retrieving the data sets from within MyStatLab: MyStatLab > Tools for Success > Appendix B data sets > Minitab > and then select to copy these files and then paste to a "Minitab Data Sets" folder on your desktop (or elsewhere on your personal computer). Then follow the steps on page 216 in the Minitab Manual. Retrieving data sets from other folders within Minitab: File > Open worksheet > Look in (click on the drop-down menu to see other Minitab student version folders such as Studnt14, etc.). Finding descriptions of data sets: Descriptions of data sets for Appendix B files are found in Appendix B at the back of the textbook because these are Triola data files. Look for the data set number and filename. A nice summary list of all Triola's Appendix B data sets is on page 217 of the Minitab Manual. Descriptions for other data files (Minitab program data sets) can be found by using the Minitab help icon on the top toolbar. Click the ? Help option. Then in the search window, type "sample data sets" or just "data sets". You should see a list of subjects contain those words. Click on "sample data sets". On the right side of the screen click on the first letter of the worksheet name. Then click on the file that you are looking for. A description of the file will appear. Renting Minitab for use at home: Students may download a student 16 (or 15) version of Minitab for home use.
