 A little history about myself:

Current Position:   Coordinator of the Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Program at Inver Hills.

Previous Employment/Career:   I retired from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. I served in a wide range of capacities from a probation/parole agent to an institution superintendent.

Educational Background:  PhD in Social Work, Masters Degrees in Social Work, Bachelors Degree in psychology and sociology.

Teaching Interests: Primarily in the areas of social work, criminal justice and law enforcement.

Research Interests: 1) Early childhood attachment as a protective factor 2) Using academic assessment tools/instruments as possible predictive measures of academic achievement 3) Prevention as opposed to intervention strategies.

Passions - personal: My wife of 37 years, my 2 adult sons, my grandchildren, the wilderness, kayaking/canoeing, traveling, golf and Lake Superior.

Passions – professional: Helping the next generation of criminal justice workers, law enforcement officers and social workers to recognize the need to treat all humans with respect and dignity and not to merely reflect the pervasive/collective societal mentality of punishment and mean spiritedness.
