Objective: To explore the field of business, specifically the functional areas of business, and to provide career information.  To allow the student a clear understanding of business terminology and concepts which will be used in higher level course work. Understanding of career opportunities in the field of business. What those jobs require and entail. Career exploration is required. Students will learn the functional responsibilities of Business Management, Marketing, Human Resource Management Production, Accounting, Risk and Financial management. As well as financial markets. International Business concerns, Social, Ethical and other responsibility issues. Also covered are economic concepts and a brief history of American business. Government Business Law and the business community are looked at from a local, regional, national and international perspective.

Finals: Students must show during finals week in order to receive extra credit

We have been assigned about a two-hour time block, which you will find in the schedule.

 

Attendance: 2 points per week. If you miss 3 days you lose 10 pts. Extra Credit.

 

Oral Reports: Option as teams or solo reports (3-4 per person.) You must be present the day you sign up for! 60 points NO SHOW EARNS 0 POINTS.

 

Project: Either a career paper or a topical report. 3 or more sources. Per hand out.

140 points. 10 points penalty for late work per class room day.

 

Bring in copied extra articles for each class member. 10 points per article. 25 points for each guest speaker. Two letters required.

 

Maximum extra credit 10% of total points. Must attend during finals week to earn Extra Credit.
