  • Read the Syllabus carefully. This is important! 
  • Set up your student services account and/or your go.inverhills.edu email account, if you have not done so.
  • Purchase textbook and/or software.
  • Explore the course site at D2L. Practice uploading files at D2L. Some of your assignments will be submitted via D2L.
  • Set up your SAM account. You will use this web site along with the "Office 2010" book. You will need the institution key in addition to the Access code for this account. The institution key is T2047469. You can find the guide on how to create the account under "Course Information" in the "Content" area.
  • Create an account at CoursePort. You will use this web site along with the "Discovering Computers 2011" book. The code to join this class is 21114F28. You can find the guide on how to create the account under "Course Information" in the "Content" area.
  • Explore the resources available to you at CoursePort.
  • After you have completed the steps above, take the "Getting Ready" quiz at D2L (Due 1/22).

  • Read Office 2010 and Windows 7: Essential Concepts and Skills in the "Office 2010" book.
  • Optional: Work on "Windows 7 Training" at SAM.
  • Take "Windows 7" test at SAM (Due 1/22)

  • Work on PowerPoint Assignment 3 (Due 3/4). You can click the link to view the detailed instructions for the assignment. To complete this portion you will need to do the following:
    • Read PowerPoint Chapter 3 in the "Office 2010" book. The data files needed for this chapter is available on the PowerPoint 3 drop box at D2L. Please note that it is given as a zipped folder. After you download the zipped folder, you will need to right click on the folder to extract the folder.   
    • Submit Bird Migration to D2L using the "PowerPoint 3" drop box.
    • Take the Office 2010 PowerPoint 3 quiz at D2L
    • Log in to SAM to download SAM PowerPoint Assignment 3 and Submit the completed document to SAM.

  • The test contains 100 multiple-choice questions covering chapter 1 to 8 from the Discovering Computers book.
  • The test is timed at 120 minutes.
    Note: The extended dead line for the test is 5/9, not 5/13.
