Do I need a computer for this class?
-
- While you don't have to own a computer, you will need to have access to a computer
with Windows XP and Office XP. If you can not find a computer off campus,
you can use the computers in the Computer
Lab located on the first floor in
the library building. Be sure to check the schedule
and bring your student ID.
-
- Do I need to know computers to take this class?
-
- This class is designed for students who already feel comfortable with
computers. You will need to know
the basics of operating a computer, such as starting/ending a program on a computer.
-
- Will this class save me time or work?
-
- This class may save the time needed for traveling to school. However, it
will not reduce the amount of work you need to do comparing to a regular
class.
-
- How much time should I expect this class to take?
-
- In general, for each credit you take, you
should allocate 3 hours per week. You should expect to spend an
average of 6 to 9 hours for this class per week. For a regular class, you
would spend 3 hours in class and an additional 6 hours after class to work on
assignments. Since you do not meet in class, the 3 hours per week you
would spend in class meetings should be used for reading the textbooks.
-
- What am I expected to do for this class?
-
- Your responsibility includes: read text books, work on assignments, take
quizzes, and take on-campus exams. In addition it is also your responsibility
to ensure you have access to the Internet. You should have a back up plan
in case your regular work station run into problems.
-
- How do I take quizzes?
-
- All quizzes will be taken at Desire2Learn off campus.
How do I take on-campus exams?
-
- There will be two on-campus exams. Each exam will take 3 hours.
You will need to come to school to take the exam. Be prepared to bring a photo
ID.
-
- Will late assignments be accepted?
-
- No, late assignments are not accepted. To allow unforeseeable
circumstances, you can submit one assignment late for the entire semester within
one week from the due date.
-
-
- How do I submit my assignments?
-
- Some assignments will be submitted through
Desire2Learn
while some will be submitted via SAM2007.
- What happens if I miss an exam?
-
- A score of zero will be recorded for the exam. No make up tests will be given unless you
have a legitimate reason for not being able to take the test on the scheduled
time and arrange it prior to the test date, or there is a verifiable emergency
for missing the test and not being able to inform the instructor on time.

How can I communicate with you if I have
questions?
The best way to contact me is through
email (speng@inverhills.edu) . I typically check my email several times a day except during the
weekends and the holidays. Your email will be replied as soon as possible, normally within
24 hours. You can also call me at (651) 450-8611. If I am not
next to the phone, you can leave a message in the voice mail box though there
may be a delay before I respond to it. If you need to see me in
person, you can come to my office during my office
hours.
