This assignment has two parts. Each part carries equal weight towards your
grade.
To complete the assignment, you will:
- Submit
Modern Music Shops Six-Month
Financial Projection.xlsx to D2L
- Take the Office 2010 Excel 3 quiz at D2L
- Submit SAM Excel Assignment 3 (Med
Supply Online Warehouse) to SAM
Part I: For this part, you will read and follow the steps
in Excel Chapter 3 in the Office 2010 book. You will
learn how to use absolute reference in Excel. You will use the IF function to
determine the value of a cell based on conditions. You will also work with pie
charts. The completed Excel file (named
Modern Music Shops Six-Month
Financial Projection) should be submitted
to the drop box in D2L labeled Excel 3. Figure 3-1 (a) and (b) on page EX139 shows what
the work sheet should look like.
After you submitted the file to D2L, you will then take the
Office 2010 Excel 3 quiz at D2L. This quiz contains 16 multiple choice questions based on
the chapter. It also contains a 4 point fill-in-blank question. This
fill-in-blank question will be graded based on your submitted file at D2L
(Modern Music Shops
Six-Month Financial Projection). The following are some useful tips while you
are working on the spreadsheet.
-
Page Ex 149 Table 3-3: This table
shows some very useful technique using the fill handle. I encourage you
practice on them. You should be happy to see what you can do with the fill
handle.
-
Pages Ex 153 Table 3-4:
You should know the paste options. Very different results can be
obtained using different options. Knowing your options helps avoid
frustration when "my computer does not do what I ask it to".
-
Page EX 198-202: though there is nothing to be grade for
this portion, be sure you know how to What-If and Goal Seek analysis. They
will be on the Excel test.
Part II: In order to practice the skills you have learned in
Excel
chapter 3, you will be working on a SAM project. For this part, you will log in
to SAM. You will download a start file and the instructions file. Follow the
instructions from SAM, you will create an Excel workbook containing one
worksheet. The finished
worksheet should look like what is shown in figure 3-87 on pages EX 210 shows
what the date sheet should look like. Figure 3-88 shows what the cylinder chart
looks like initially. The figure below shows what it looks like when you
completed the assignment.
