Class Policies:
Quizzes

There will be four in-class quizzes and a take-home quiz.  No make-up quizzes will be given unless an arrangement is made PRIOR to the time of the quiz.

In-Class Assignments

For each tutorial, I will walk you through the steps in class. You will have created an excel file by the end of the tutorial. This file is submitted to D2L by the end of the class and will be graded as "In-Class" assignments. If you have to miss a class, you will need to make up the work on your own and submit the file before 6:00 pm on the date of the following class. I will not be able to go through the tutorial outside of the class. No late In-Class assignments will be accepted.

Take-Home Assignments

To reinforce the skill you have learned from the Tutorial, you will be working on the "Review Assignment" after the tutorial. There will be four take-home assignments. Late take-home assignments will be penalized by 20% and must be submitted within one week from the due date.

Incomplete:
To receive an "Incomplete", you must be achieving a grade of C or better and have completed at least 75% of the required work unless you have a documented medical condition. It is your responsibility to provide a written request for the "Incomplete".
Grade Book Keeping:
Your grades will be kept at D2L course site.  You can check your grades anytime during the semester. If you have disputes regarding the score of a specific item, you must talk to the instructor within two weeks from the time the score becomes available at D2L.
The "W" grade:

If you have decided not to participate in this class during the semester, it is important that you officially withdraw from the class at the registration office.  Otherwise, your grade for this class will be F on your transcript.

Grading: Your final grade will be determined based on the total points you earn on the quizzes, in-class assignments, and take-home assignments.
  • In-class assignments: This is the result of following the tutorial in the book. I will walk you through the steps in class.
  • Take-home assignments: You will be asked to create Excel files using the skills you have learnt in class. You will need to figure out the steps on your own.
  • Quizzes: A quiz will be given after each tutorial. The in-class quizzes are closed book.
In general, 91-100% guarantees an A, 81-90.9% for B, 71-80.9% for C, 61-70.9% for D, and a percentage below 61% is an F.
