Course Description:

This course is designed for students wishing to acquire word processing knowledge for personal or professional use. Topics includes formatting, printing, tabs, tables, newsletters, mail merge, styles, desktop publishing, macros, web page creation, and online forms.

Grading: Your final grade will be determined based on the total points you earn on the quizzes, in-class assignments, take-home assignments, and three exams.
  • In-class assignments: This is the result of following the tutorial in the book.  I will walk you through the steps in class. These assignments will be done in class and are due before the start of the following class. If you have to miss a class, you must make up the work on your own and submit the files BEFORE the start of the following class to receive credits.
  • Take-home assignments: One of the case problems after each tutorial will be assigned as a take-home assignment which will be finished outside of the class. You will be asked to create Word files using the skills you have learnt in class. You will need to figure out the steps on your own.
  • Quizzes: A quiz will be given in class for each tutorial. Each quiz contains 20 multiple choice questions. All in-class quizzes are closed book.
  • Exams: There will be three exams, one after each level. These exams contain projects similar to your take home assignments.

In general, 91-100% guarantees an A, 81-90.9% for B, 71-80.9% for C, 61-70.9% for D, and a percentage below 61% is an F.
