Access Assignment 3 Description

This assignment has two parts. Each part carries equal weight towards your grade. To complete the assignment, you will:

  • Submit the modified database Camashaly Design.accdb to D2L
  • Take the Office 2010 Access 3 quiz at D2L
  • Submit SAM Access Assignment 3 (ECO Clothesline) to SAM

Part I: For this part, you will read and follow the steps in Access Chapter 3 in the Office 2010 book. You will change data stored in the Client table. You will also make structure changes of the Client table. Submit both the modified database file and the Excel file to the drop box in D2L labeled Access 2.

After you submitted the file to D2L, you will then take the Office 2010 Access 3 quiz at D2L. This quiz contains 16 multiple choice questions based on the chapter. It also contains a 4 point fill-in-blank question. This fill-in-blank question will be graded based on your submitted files at D2L (Camashaly Design.accdb). The following are some useful tips while you are working on the worksheet.

  1. Note:  Make sure you submit your database for Access assignment 2 before you continue for Access assignment 3 because you will delete records from the database.  

  2. Page  AC 159-161: You added a calculated field in Access chapter 2 by typing the field names in your formula. The steps of these pages shows how to enter formulas using the Expression Builder. Be sure you understand both ways since they will be on the test.

  3. Page  AC 166 and AC 167 Step 1 at the bottom: While tying errors in Validation Text can be tolerated by Access, the test you type in the validation Rule box must be exactly right. Make sure to check spellings of the validation rule.

Part II: In order to practice the skills you have learned in Access chapter 3, you will be working on a SAM project. For this part, you will log in to SAM. You will download an Access file and the instructions file. Follow the instructions from SAM.
